Eh. It's really just China that's having that effect on the world, right? I'm pretty sure Russia and Western Europe have had a steady or declining population for a hundred years now.
That, and despite the fact that the growth rate is decreasing (which certainly is a good thing), the fact that we'll always have a growth rate is still no-good if you look really far down the line; as long as growth rate surpasses death rate (which is decreasing even faster that growth rate with increasing medical technologies) overpopulation is inevitable. Of course popular opinion is simply that 'we'll deal with it when it comes,' which is of course ludicrous.
